æ mirror image to the lovers
æ mirror image to the lovers
æ mirror image to the lovers explores intimacy as a space of constant negotiation, where the private and the public are never entirely separate. Where does intimacy end and performance begin?
On stage, two bodies continuously construct and dismantle the possibility of being together. Through gestures of care, resistance, dependence and control, they negotiate the terms of their encounter. The couple emerges as an unstable condition, constantly shifting between closeness and distance, autonomy and surrender, connection and impossibility.
At the heart of the work lies a tension between the power of love and love for power. Moving through codes associated with masculinity and femininity, the two bodies explore how roles, expectations and power dynamics inhabit even the most intimate spaces. What appears personal is never entirely free from what has been learned, inherited and absorbed.
æ mirror image to the lovers looks at the relationship as both a private encounter and a public construction: something lived between two people, yet shaped by the codes through which intimacy is recognised, enacted and understood.
